What’s Hot This Month At Classic Fine Foods: April Edition

Spring has well and truly begun, with plenty to offer in terms of seasonal produce. And with the arrival of Easter and the King’s coronation just around the corner on the 6th May, there is much to prepare for! 

With Classic Harvest by Classic Fine Foods, we want to offer to you the best selection of seasonal and high-quality fruit & vegetables coming from the best farmers in the UK and Europe;

Fruit

With the arrival of spring comes an abundance of ripe fruits, from Britain and beyond. From the United Kingdom, the highlights include Wye Valley rhubarb, a forced rhubarb with a beautifully sharp and tangy flavour and vibrant colour; perfect for your spring desserts. Also in their prime this month are Gariguette and Frais des bois strawberries, a truly delicious spring delicacy.

From further afield, Classic Fine Foods are offering sweet and juicy alphonso mangoes from India, to add an exotic touch to your menus.

Veg

Asparagus season is in full swing in Britain and France. At Classic Fine Foods, we are offering Wye Valley hand-harvested green asparagus from Herefordshire and French white asparagus, which is and is much sweeter than its green cousin. Serve alongside white fish, chicken or with a hollandaise sauces for the perfect simple spring starter.

With lamb and veal now in season, you need some delicious spring vegetables to serve alongside. Purple sprouting broccoli and Jersey potatoes are the ideal accompaniments.

The King’s Coronation

With only a month to go before the King’s Coronation, it is time to prepare your menus. A truly historical moment for Britain, the Coronation is the perfect opportunity to serve some really special sweet and savoury creations for your customers.

PCB Creation have created some bespoke Royal themed pastry decorations, only available from Classic Fine Foods. With chocolate decoration crowns and crown transfer sheets, you can create some truly spectacular desserts.

Hug have also created some special crown-shaped tart shells for the event, so you can make pastries easily and with total precision. Hug offer a wider range of tart shells, with various sizes, shapes, flavours and even vegan options.

Afternoon Tea

What better way to celebrate a British landmark event than with afternoon tea? At Classic Fine Foods, we have selected some wonderful prepared frozen desserts from mini tarts, gateaux, scones and more. From Bridor, we have mini pastries and bread to make finger sandwiches. And to serve along side your pastries, Cornish clotted cream, British butter and Tiptree jams, marmalades and curds.

Seafood

For a touch of luxury, we are offering Scottish fresh and smoked salmon from Loch Fyne as well as Sturia caviar. Perfect for appetizers and starters.

British Meat

The best way to commemorate the British monarchy is with British produce. At Classic Fine Foods, we have British beef coming from the West CountryMangalitza Pork from Yorkshire and Cobble Lane Cured meats from Islington, so you can create some wonderful showstoppers.

What celebration is complete without a glass of something special! Coming from the Lake District, The Lakes Distillery offer a beautiful selection of gin, vodka and their signature whiskeys.
