In 1878, Henry Tate began refining sugar in his London refinery and 4 years later Abram Lyle set up his factory, making the famous Lyle’s Golden Syrup. By 1921, the two businessmen had merged their refineries to create Tate & Lyle.
The company oversees the whole process from refining to selling their sugar, giving them total control over the quality and consistency of their products.
