Classic Fine Foods Sponsorship of Bocuse d'Or and the UK Pastry Team

- Categories : News & Events

Classic Fine Foods UK is proud sponsor of @bocusedoruk and @pastryteamuk, the teams representing the United Kingdom next year to compete in the most prestigious competitions: the culinary Bocuse d’Or and the pastry Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie.

Both competitions will take place in January 2023 in Lyon as part of the Sirha Lyon Trade Exhibition, one of the biggest food events around the world that it’s celebrated every two years.

BOCUSE d’OR

Bocuse d’Or showcases the extraordinarily high level of technical skills and creativity of chefs around the world.

As part of the competition, each team of chefs need to create a platter following a particular theme and this year the theme is seafood as part of the Seafood Scotland’s support.

The Ritz Hotel Chef Ian Musgrave is working on his seafood creations to compete in the final in January where everyone is required to use Scottish products.

Musgrave’s interest in food and cooking began in family home cooking with and for his mother and father and he has been competing since attending The Sheffield College which makes him get out of his comfort zone and challenge himself to think differently about food.

The team has been working hard for longer than two years which was especially difficult during the Covid lockdowns. However, Musgrave feels he and his team are well-placed to be successful and reiterated their advantage when using Scottish seafood, which they have ample experience cooking.

Musgrave and his team will compete at Bocuse d’Or on January 22-23 in Lyon against chefs from other 23 countries.

PASTRY TEAM UK

The Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie or World Pastry Cup is an international contest that unveils the latest trends in the sector and discovers the new talents of the worldwide pastry.

The World Pastry Cup is the most spectacular pastry contest across the globe and the international event brings together 20 teams of pastry chefs from all over the world.

These specialists are first selected in their country, then regionally after several rounds of competition. When their turn comes, the candidates perform side by side, in order to prepare a buffet of desserts, the resulting creations are then presented on three showpieces made of hydric ice, chocolate and sugar, which serve to display a frozen dessert, a chocolate dessert, and a plate of dessert.

The Pastry Team UK will compete next year against the world’s best pastry chefs and, in order to be successful, the support from several sponsors is essential so the team has all the resources that they need for training and practice.

“Our sponsors play a very important role in our committee, each sponsor has a member in our committee, they are very much involved in the decisions the club make. Financially, their support have been tremendous and we are very grateful to have them backing us, without them this adventure would not be possible” – Says Denis Drame, President of the UK Pastry Team.

At Classic Fine Foods UK we know that and for that reason we offer more than financial support to the Pastry Team UK. Since we opened our training facility TheTasteLab, the team use the place for their training and preparation for the world cup and the Classic team are always there to give advice, support and assist to become better and – we all hope – be a podium contender soon.
